Hx35 turbo upgrade

So I just finished building my motor. But I want to do something with my turbo. I'm waiting a little more boost but I need the stock exhaust housing cause I have an exhaust brake bolted to it. I have been reading about the compressor update to a 60mm wheel and the 7 blade exhaust wheel. What would work best for me and still have a good spool and lower my egts that is my goal cause I'm burning a little bit warm. I pegged 1400į real fast. I have 100hp injectors and an II vp44 injection pump a fass 95gpg pump and then my turbo was originally built by II but can't remember if I got a hybrid or not. So any help would be awesome and links as to where I can get parts as well.

To me you would be putting lipstick on a pig.. I would be waiting for the drop in K27's to get back in stock. Depending if you brake is flange or v-band mounted the k27 could work with it. Either way just get a fabricator to cut and weld a v-band on it.

So it is the 5 bolt flang. So someone can cut and weld a v band on it ? And who makes the k27 ?

Is there a v-band in between the flange and brake portion? Yeah ive welded exhaust cast iron with good success, preferably someone with a Tig welder.

K27 is Borg Warner. It's similar in terms of performance to a He351 from what I understand.

I'll look into that. I'm trying to keep cost a little lower cause I'm so high up on cost cause I just built the motor. That's why I'm lookng into upgrading my hx35 cause that cost is 350$ instead of the 1200$ for the k27 and then I have to have it fabbed up. So that's why I'm leaning toward the update of the hx35 thats why i wonder if anyone has ever done it and had successful with it.

I'm sure someone will chime in. Personally I would say do it right the first time. Ive cut many corners with my build that just ended up costing more in the end. A good tuner like the Quad will keep your egt's in check with the hx if you wanted to go that route.

So I have the edge cts2 juice with attitude with dual egts probe so I can moniter 1-3 on one probe and 4-6 on another and I have the defuling peramiters setup to 1500į and what not so the programer is good I went all out on that one. So it keeps me in check and that's why I'm looking for a little lower egts and a little more boost.

So marco what is thw outle size of the k26? My brake has a v band clamp on it and is a 3inch. I'm thinking about the k27 how much boost can I run with that turbo and what is the lag like and how long does it take to light the turbo ? Also what kinda of egt drop would I get with that turbo?

I ran one like this except mine is a 6 blade compressor and it handled the 100's w/edge comp.
The exh. temps peaked around 1400F full chat.
You'll use your existing turbine and turbine housing.

3". It's meant to clamp to the existing elbow your exhaust brake would of replaced (Cummins 3927811). For performance I would expect to see k27 to spool fast and run a little cooler. If your looking for more performance take the plunge to sxe362. You would be going from roughly 55cfm to 75cfm.

Also to clear things up about boost, that's not what your after to make hp and low egt's. Modifying a hx should yield some flow like Clunk described, i think the bottle neck will start being the turbine side however. I just wouldn't expect to be pushing your luck with boost numbers, poor little Hx was only designed for so much.

So with my setup with my injectors and what not will this turbo keep up with it. Also do you know anywhwre i can get one for under 1k ? So then I can sell my wife on it she is kinda not to happy with me and my build right now. So if I can find one cheaper then 1k I might be able to sell her on it. Also does the sxe bolt up to my stuff like the k27 does ?
