Yes I have a suggestion. Write infull sentences with punctuation so that we may better understand what you are saying. Also what truck are you working on, details?
So, your wait to start light should come on immediately. It is bad or going bad but usually will run when the WTS light does come on. Lift pump should only run a couple of seconds when turned on and 25 seconds if you bump the starter until it starts and comes back on.
If you ordered an ECM is it preprogrammed and plug and play? Are you sure?
Did it die while running or just would not start in the morning?
Usually when an ECM is on the way out it will start after the WTS light comes on. The light coming on says it has finished booting up correctly, usually.

First, listen to bigfish.
Second, the only time my truck has ever gone full stop dead was
when the VP44 was toasted. Pull codes and post those too.

Grid heater should have only come on if the key was on.
Since you already ordered it , just put it on when it gets her and see what happened. Usually if it dies from ECM failure it usually throws a code for such ECM failure, But possibly not.
I ask Did it die or fail to start?

It fell dead going down the road and it wasn’t a drop of fuel in the fuel filter housing.

The truck was running.
Truck has plenty of diesel in the tank.
Truck died.
You found no fuel in the filter housing.

Sounds like the fuel lift pump to VP44.
Hope the VP44 is OK.
(if this is a 2nd gen 24V Cummins)
Check pressure from the lift pump.
Don't try to run the truck until you have proper fuel pressure from the lift pump.
If you bump the starter, you should have pressure to the VP44.

You have no codes but you replaced an engine control module,
so did the codes go with the old one?

Read the forums and decide on a good aftermarket lift pump.
When your buddy repairs the truck, he needs to add a FP gauge.
The VP44 wants 12 -14 lbs FP from the lift pump at all times (stock truck)
Hopefully he's not in for a VP44 too.

Wait!
But you have an electrical problem.
So maybe the lift pump doesn't have any power.
(I took out my VP44 150K miles ago and I'm still traumatized)

Are the fuses OK?
There are diagrams on the fuse covers.
