New owner of Cummins

Hi. This is my 1st time ever on a forum, and I just bought a 2000.5 24 v high output obviously bolted to a 6 speed. It's a quad cab short bed4x4. It has 300000 miles and I purchased it from the original owner. I paid 3200 for it... now it needs a little work. Would not do anything besides go straight to 1300 rpm no matter the position of the pedal until I fixed a stupid black wire in between the pump and the ecm... it has a bank's ottomind and the wire to the pump is tapped. It had bd power digital gauges on the column. A bank's big head waste gate. And allegedly a different turbo. It runs amazing even though it leaks oil like a stuck pig.

Ok the question, everything I can find says banks is garbage. But it runs so good... with the banks disconnected it runs like half of power opposed to when it's hooked up. should I get a different tuner? I could I run one with it? Chuck it in the trash? Thoughts?

Welcome to the CF. If you like the way it runs, you dont know any better so you should leave it alone. Banks isnt junk, its just a 65ish hp tune. When your ready for big power, get a quadzilla adrenaline.

Feels like way more than 65.. It has a fass lift pump to... I believe stock injectors. So with the adrenaline... get rid of the ottomind? I read somewhere they can be used together... but I don't believe everything I read... hence why im here... also, u think an adrenaline should come before or after injectors?

banks is a very well engineered tuner, very safe also....hence the reason most say it sucks. it isnt as wild as some.

no reason the stack tuners if you do buy a quad V2...

read up, and learn your truck before doing anything....fix any/all issues sooner than later.

Sounds like a good truck for $3200, especially since you could fix it cheap.

yeah I'm more than happy with the price... granted the body is ty, however the frame is decent besides the front in front of the steering brace it's rotted a bit but im gonna cut bend and weld some steel from a few feet back. I bought a gas 2500 with a nv4500 a few months prior for more than the diesel... kick myself in the butt for jumping the gun on it
