Rear bumper building

Wanting to build a ranchhand style rear bumper for my truck, and wondering what you guys have and if there are any plans out there. All I have is a torch and a twentieth century POS stick welder. I do have access to a chop saw and wire feed if neccesary.

So postem up.

Man, I love the overall look of this truck. Makes me want to sell mine and get a work truck.

Runs good!

That's all that matters at this point!

Looks like he has some type of "baja" front bumper, think I can see a small bar under the headlights. But one MEAN looking truck for sure

Got a start so far, got the old one off, and the new one in the process, so far everything is torch and 6013/6011 stick. doing a 3 pass weld and cant decided if I should just lay the root with the stick and get it tacked up and lay the face passes with the wire at school tomorow. Let me know what you think.

Well this is as far as I got tonight, goning to finish most of the welding at school tomorow and get some diamond plate. Then a couple other parts for an idea I had, but I don't want share it till its done cause I am not sure out it is going to end up yet.

Got the hitch tacked pretty good and some D rings, just need to get a receiver tube and then that will be done. Trying to decided how much it needs to be braced, I dont do much bumper hitch pulling other then the sled trailers. Most of it is 5th wheel.

I would set you a piece of 3/8" Diamond Plate on the backside of the drop, and weld it everywhere. This should be enough bracing.

I like that you are now the 2nd person I have seen with a square tubed bumper on its side!! haha

IDK if you could see on my pic but I cut two more pieces of square tubing on side and angled them in about 15 degrees. If you wanted more of a manufactured look you could could that drop up and lay the sides over just a hair. Just my 2 cents. Looks bueno though

luckly I wont have to buy anything other then the diamond plate. Dad told me I could take some tubing from an old disk back in the trees. So I got the tubing there and the strap iron out of our scrap pile
