tranny rattle

I have a 95 CTD auto with 98k...everything is real tight and runs great, makes a rattle sound when stopped in Drive, or in reverse moving or stopped. Sounds like it is coming from the trans. Its fine if I put it in neutral or Park and when I start to accelerate. Any ideas? Thanks!~

I would start by looking for anything loose in the vicinity of the tranny. Is there any way to look when you have it idling in gear SAFELY?? Is the torque convertor tight to the flexplate? Are the cooler lines bouncing around? Check the simple things first.

Good idea, I think I may have found a possibility, I will confirm later. My exhaust has the top half of a clamp just hanging on the pipe, and the tailpipe just broke off past the muffler! Just ordered a new exhaust from Cowboydieselperformance! Thanks Nathan! Hope the rattle goes away, I'll update, Thanks!

Rattle was the top half of an exhaust clamp hanging on the pipe! Tranny is a ok, except it seems to drop into OD a little too soon. Thanks for the help!
