Lock up switch questions

So I figured I'd give it a whirl, and installed one today. It functions. But it shifts so quickly from 2 to 3 like less than a second.
Definitly too quick. I didn't try getting on the skinny pedal to see if that would delay it...
Any experience out there?
I basicly want it for towing steep short hills we have here.
Thanks!

The lock up switch should not effect the shift pattern.

I removed my lock up switch when I did the POTS in place of the TPS. With OD off I cam lock at 30 MPH and it shifts normal.

I was looking for lock up in 2nd. I guess I can shift to 2nd then lock it for the steep stuff. I did the POT a month or so ago, but I think it crapped out on me. I had to hook up the tps again. Maybe the radioshack ones aren't that great?

On a stock valve body you can't lockup in 2nd, just 3rd and o/d. With certain shift kits you will be able to make it lock in 2nd. I got my pot from radio shack, no problems with the pot, just with the pcm connections. Just don't try locked shifts, you'll regret it.

probably a TPS/wiring issue, and a stock valvebody wont lockup in 2nd, most modified ones will and some will lock up in 1st, like mine does

well mine is. I had the tranny replaced last may with a GASP Jasper. They claim 21 upgrades over stock. good luck getting the list of upgrades though.
I do plan on a valve body and single low stall tc... figuring out which is my quandry.
