South Bend Clutch ?

Im going to order a clutch in the next couple days and want to get a good streetable double disk. I put a Valair DD3800 ceramic in and that clutch held everything that I could ever throw at it, including many hooks to a sled, but I hate the jerky 2nd gear take off. Im looking at a South Bend DD multi friction (SDD3250-5 and the all organic DD SDD3250-5-ORG. I will never hook to a sled but do travel through the big city daily and want a smooth empty 2nd gear take off or towing my 32' enclosed trailer.
Who has one of these and what is your take? @jkidd

Have you talked to Valair about their organic disc and lighter plate to use with the flywheel you already have?

I have the valair organic DD in my truck and was in my last truck. It's worth considering. I dont daily but do drive threw town on the weekends and tow regularly. Very smooth clutch. Also read great things about the south bend. Dont think you'll go wrong with either. I also beat the snot out of both trucks. No sled pulls but pretty aggressive driving with 15k in tow regularly. My 10 had an s464 even. Still held great.

I'm not a man found of change. It was a leap for me to go with valair over south bend but now I'm hooked on them. After the beating my 10' got I'll never change at this point.. Again not saying anything poor about south bend. Many highly praise them as well. The 3250 would have been my choice if I didnt get the valair the first time around.

I have had a 3250 since 2012, at the time I think they called it their street version. I have about 40K on it with various driving styles (stop and go, towing, highway). Its very quiet, not jerky and I tow often with it. If I was in the market for clutch I wouldn't hesitate buying another.

I think im going to order the organic. This truck will most likely never be over 450hp and I want a smooth take off.

That's what I am running and my truck is a 700hp compound towing machine. Never had any problems. Love that clutch. Mark the way it is assembled when you get it. So when installing you don't mess up the direction everything faces. They paint them but it doesn't do any good.

Got the SB DD organic clutch in today, Standard Gear and Transmission in Ft Worth did the install. My stock hydro's and stock style clutch had higher plate load than this 3250 but the shop said my stock hydro's were shot. They are a master distributor and had the hydro's in stock. I never put much thought into SB or Valair hydro's but wow, this pedal has never felt better and even though its a dual disk, its just as quiet as a single! I still have several hundred miles for break in but im sold on SB.
