Starts then dies

My dad called me up the other night said his 95 will fire up and if you don't touch throttle it'll idle for 2 seconds then die. Fires right back up. Hold at 1/2 throttle it will idle for 5 seconds gen die. Hold throttle to floor it will keep running (till it snaps out of it?) sounds like it's losing prime or sucking air, but after it dies it will fire right back up and doesn't require bleeding system. I'm not a p7100 dude so needing some help. I ahvent been around it so I don't have any personal experience with what it's doing, just what I'm told. He said it seems to run fine for the 2 or 5 seconds before it dies

Is the Fuel Shutdown Solenoid staying up when running? It's a solenoid with 3 wires on the side of the P7100

I don't know. If I remember correctly, if you unplug the wiring the shutoff should stay in the "run" position?

No. It requires constant 12v power to run. Sounds like the pull circuit is working, but the hold part or relay isn't. Running at WOT may push enough fuel for the pump to ignore the FSS position.
