NV4500 rebuild...slow/sticky first gear

So I'm in the middle of half rebuilding my transmission. It doesn't have many miles and the main bearings went out...and also spun on main shaft(not under warranty anymore, not my fault and how on earth did that bearing even spin?). Anyways I'm reusing syncros and stuff. Moving everything over and going well, but first gear doesn't seem to spin as well as reverse or second right now. Are the syncros just a little sticky right now or did I somehow screw something up? It doesn't really seem possible to actually assemble it wrong, or did I find a way? Thanks
