Sleeved engines - NC

Are the 5.9 Cummins sleeved like their big brothers (ISX series)? or are they just bare right into the block?

Yes they are sleeved.......not sure if it's the same as the bigger motors (wet vs. dry).

Wet sleeves come in contact with engine coolant. They're sealed at the top and bottom with o-rings.

Dry sleeves simply press into an existing block bore.

No sleeves in the 5.9. They are a parent bore engine. Can be bored and dry sleeved to repair a bad hole.

The 5.9 is a parent bore engine and does not use sleeves (wet or dry) in its original manufacture.
