For a dollar an ounce they better kiss you in the morning and leave a mint on the pillow.

Thatís my thought. But it supposedly smooths out every metal surface it touches by filling little pours. People reporting a few miles per gallon better than before using it.

A few miles per gallon increase in mileage? Really? "Increase fuel economy up to 5% with FR3 car oil additive" Up to means that is the most magic this stuff can conjure up. If there is any increased mileage the real number will be in the .001% range.

No marketing required to get someone who is prone to believe everything he reads on the internet. An extra $18 per oil change is nothing compared to an extra $4 per tank of fuel for those who believe the "ULSD lacks lubricity so add a qt of two cycle oil to every tankful" myth.

I never said a word about ULDS Don't get me started

I do use additives, but not, for the reasons given by the OP's posting. I cold care less about MPG on my 8K lb. truck....LOL!

I need some one to be a guinea pig. Iíd like to see oil sample differences really. Same oil. One without the additive. Change oil, use additive. Seeing as I do extended drain intervals, Iím a poor subject, otherwise I would.

Those guys (and others) are big in the Powerstroke world (6.0 specifically) because people swear that it makes the engine run better, more mileage, etc, etc. Mostly those folks forgot to change their oil because they were too busy throwing chips in their trucks to blow smoke and make a bunch of noise. Bottom line is the HEUI injectors had/have stiction issues due to lack of maintenance, poor aftermarket filters, the list goes on. It gave the Powerstroke a really bad name. Iím living proof that if you maintain one properly and donít ask it to give you 1000HP over stock, itíll last just fine. They have 4 head bolts or cylinder, and 2 are ďsharedĒ between two cylinders. Doesnít make for a fun time when you start advancing timing and adding a bunch of fuel. I digress.

The born and bred 6.0 guys who actually know what theyíre doing donít really use it overall. Some do, most donít. Thereís a time and place for it for major stiction issues but itís a bandaid. The real fix is new injectors. Or Cummins swap your Ford. The 12V doesnít have these issues, so I donít believe youíd really gain much, if anything, besides a lighter wallet.
