Any Such Thing As 97 Body w/ 98 Interior

Fine folks, I have a question about something I saw for sale recently. Someone is selling a "98 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 12 Valve" but it has something I simply haven't seen before which is the 97 type body (2 Doors) along with the 98 type interior. It is an Extended Cab and it has a 12 Valve, NV5600 Transmission and 4x4. The manufacture date is 09/97 according to the sticker. It looks like it's in amazing shape. I'm not really in the market to get another truck and it is really far away from me but it intrigued me to say the least. I guess I thought all the 98 Extended Cabs had the 4 Door Extended Cab? Was there a model year mid point where an Extended Cab truck would have the older 2 Door body with the newer interior and the NV5600 trans? Thanks.

WOW thanks. I thought maybe they did a cab swap or something. They advertised it as 100% Stock but it is also advertised as a "California Truck" and it doesn't have EGR so I was confused with all the different things on it from what I was familiar with. So when in the production timeline did they start the 4 Door Extended Cab and when in the production timeline did they stop the 12 Valve? Thanks Again.

98 had standard cab, extended cab or quad cab options...
I've seen all three options (I have a standard and quad) and saw an extended in wrecking yard.
think the 5600 option became available in 2000 but not sure

New member here. I recently bought a 97 (12/97 build date) with the opening rear doors and updated interior. Basically its a 98 12 valve truck with a 97 title. Perfect for us Cali guys with the 97 smog cut-off!

If it has a '98+ interior (which I'm sure it does) you got over on the state. Everywhere else in the world it is a '98 and is titled as such. All the '98s produced after 12/31/97 are 24 valves and commonly called '98 1/2.
