91 Non Inter-cooled upgrades?

I’ve been driving my ‘91 single wheel W350, non IC, 5 speed Getrag as a daily driver and love it. Eventually I want to see if there are any recommended up grades that I can consider to improve my overall daily driving experience.

I’m not looking to do burn outs, burn coal or reach speeds of 100 mph. I’ll consider a different turbo if there’s any that are compatible, maybe (big maybe) making it IC. Aside from that I don’t know what else can be done to the pre IC models.

Can you guys help a first gen-ner out. Thanks.

most common would be to.... well turn it into your 92 but in a 2x4 (or if its an open diff... 3x1) single cab manual trans version... in otherwords IC first then anything else ya prefer from the 92/93s I was tempted with onea my parts trucks cause its cabs pretty good... it woulda been the reverse of your situation as its an extended cab 92 with automatic and as its got a posi its a 4x2 instead I decided to use its frame and cab to turn my single cab 93 W250 into an extended cab with it....

Since I have 3 non-IC trucks and 1 intercooled... I'll say that the cooler is overrated for a DD. Average driving doesn't see enough sustained load to benefit.

Get a 4" free-flowing exhaust in there, and a pyro. The non-IC have more tuning (power) potential due to the factory pump having more adjustment, and injectors being larger.

I'm working on piping a WH1C or HX35 (same fitment) into the factory non-IC crossover. A little massaging on the comp outlet, and a silicone adapter boot should do it.

Not sure yet. The WH1C is the one I'm using for mockup. I want something that spools faster with the 5 speed.

EDIT: I believe the only difference between the WH1C and early HX35 is how the compressor housing is attached. Bolts vs snap ring.
