Finally got a cup holder in my rolling restoration. Wasn’t cheap but wanted a permanent solution. Also was bummed to replace carpet with new padding and vinyl floor after fixing the rusted floor pan on driver side only to find water inside the driver side after a heavy rain. Narrowed it down to the fresh air vent lots of folks cap it but I tried to modify it. Flipped the inside sleeve upside down, heated and bent the sleeve so it sheds water and added a plastic blade at the mid point to divert the water that was splashing in the cab. Sealed it all up with silicone. Will test tomorrow after it dries. Tested before the silicone with a hose and it all but solved the problem.

I like the cup holders. I don't like my vinyl floor mat it's loud in the truck now. I sound deaden the whole cab and then installed that vinyl mat and it way louder than it was before. I think I'm going to go back to carpet. They do look good

I laid down some insulation as well. That buytle stuff, then some foam type stuff then the carpet insulation followed by the original rubber mat insulation that came with it. It's not bad. I used a decibel meter for before and after and it went down a couple points. still no library in there. I measured the 2003 3500 I had and the 93 I have now and it's about 8 decibles louder in the cab now. I think some more insulation on the firewall and between tranny and the tranny hump will help.

I've got two dogs that love the beach and hate baths so I have to got with vinyl....wish I could vinyl the entire house!

I'm going to add more this spring. It's hard to drive long distance. Its way loader than before.

I have 3 small children, that was my reason for the vinyl hahahaha

Well, it rained .83 inches steadily last night and not a drop got into the cab through the vent. Left it all taken apart in case I had to modify it but looks good to go. Went out there during the rain (b/c that what 1st gen'rs do) and watched the water dripping in and then deflecting of the little louver i epoxied in place. That project done! brakes, rotors, 9/16 lugs, bearings, injectors on the list for this weekend!

Thanks for the informative post here. I noticed that my carpet was getting wet. I thought it might be due to a bad windshield install 2 years ago. I will have to check for this same situation on my truck.

Did you see this? I got great results from installing carpet padding for noise reduction.
