92 D250 wiring problems

I’ve been in the middle of decomputerizing certain parts of my truck. Also got rid of the fuseable links. Truck was fine for several days. Then one day I lost all power. I came to the conclusion I had a bad ground off the battery. Replaced that with a new ground and still having problems. Then I found out my Engine is being energized by something but idk who it could be. I’ve disconnected every plug and sensor on the engine and still have voltage on my motor. Anyone have an idea what’s wrong here?

Is the pos battery cable shorting somewhere or the pos wire from the alternator? Check your power feed to the ign switch, how did you eliminate the fusible links?

I deleted the fuseable links with a safety hub 150. Battery positive to the fuse panel is new and not shorting to anything. Alternator cable is disconnected from everything so I wouldn’t belive that to be the problem. Is it possible the battery has reversed its polarity ? That’s the only thing I can think of

Battery power will be at the alternator cable always. Battery can only reverse if the cables are reversed.

Tested voltage at my ignition switch. 4.7 was the highes key on or off. Any ideas why that would be so low?

What's your battery volts? What's the volts coming out of your fuse block that you put on going to the ign switch?

If the engine is energized then a pos wire is going to ground.

voltage regulator that ya added when ya deleted the computer handling that job? is battery main lead to starter solenoid rubbing against anything? if the solenoid is old or has corrosion in it it can create a light short to ground internally only seen that once on a big truck but.. drove me nuts, found it by disconnecting wires from engine 1 at a time until nothing was connected except motor mounts...

Yes I have an external voltage regulator that has a wire running to my ignition switch so it turns on with the ignition switch. Starter cable isn’t hooked up at all. Already took alternator cable out and it wasn’t the problem. The engine seems to be normal now. Not sure what I did but I’ll figure it out when I put it all back together. Now idk why I have suck low volts at my ignition switch

Ign switch could be bad, if your still using the FSS to shut the truck off then carry a jumper wire with gator clips on both ends. If the truck would quit running then you can use the jumper to go from pos battery post to the FSS and be on your way.
