Lost overdrive again

Guys I'm beating my brains in over here. I went pot mod when the TPS looked like it was garbage. Bypassed both the temp sensor on the block and the transmission. I've put hundreds of miles on it with zero issues until today. Went to drive home from work and I had no speedo or overdrive whatsoever.

What am I missing? VSS?

And I lost in, not list it. Fat fingers + no patients + spell check = bad news.

Thanks in advance.

Vss is likely, could be wiring too.

Problem is, possibly also, VSS is connected via a short speedometer cable. I have a US gear underdrive.

What kind of wiring issues? I don't think I'm ready for that

Put a new VSS in yesterday. High fived myself after the test run. Got overdrive back. Thought I had it licked till I drove it in to work this morning, no overdrive again. What else is there guys?

What else controls both the speedo, and the overdrive?

I have a pot mod, I bypassed both temp sensors in the block and trans, replaced the VSS yesterday. What else am I missing? What could be intermittently working/not working that controls both the speedo and overdrive?

A bad wire, possibly shorting out somewhere?

A strong possibility. Where does the VSS wire go initially?

The vss, there is a couple other things but the vss is the main culprit.

I replaced that bad boy yesterday. Is there a way to check if it's working out not? Chuck a drill on it and test with a volt meter or something?

You could do the drill thing, the ECM also gives it something like 5 volts I believe. Does your VSS screw onto a ratio adapter if so they are prone to breaking.
