Second that, you need a doner. If nothing else just to pull measurements from. You can do it with hand tools. I converted a 2nd dually crew cab to 4wd one time. I think I had to drill (27) 1/2" holes to bolt everything in. The only thing I needed a torch for was to cut (2) 2" diameter holes in the frame for the rear leaf spring hangers. You will have to take everything off the frame rails back to about the Trans mount.

'92 W350 cc/sb project, '89 W250, '91 W250, '90 D350,'92 D250... Its all junk!

2x to 4x

i'm in the middle of doing that now. it is a lot of work, for sure. my old '89w250 was rusted to pieces so i bought a 2wd d250 in arizona and completely tore it down, cut out the 2wd stuff, sandblasted everything, por15'd all the parts and bolted stuff back together using flange head, grade 8 nuts and bolts taking measurements off the old frame to know where the x-members go. rebuilt the diffs, transmission, engine (it only had 400k+ miles) new everything to do with the brakes, new hubs, leaf springs and on and on. i'm ready to put the drive train into the frame now and then start on the body, thinking it has to get taken down to bare metal for new paint. going to put some sound deadener in the cab too. before you needed to wear earmuffs to safeguard your hearing and some kind of eyeball restraints to keep them from rattling outta your skull.

so what i'm going to end up with is an OLD truck that won't be worth half the money I've spent on it... but it'll be a great old truck

You can check out my crewcab build thread, tons of pics and info....I did the 2wd to 4wd conversion about 5 years ago now. Yes it's lots of work, but not that bad.

Is there any chance someone on here would have those frame sections for templates?

Easier to do a cab an engine swap onto a rolling chassis donor. Even easier and cheaper , sell it and buy a 4x4.

Good clean 1st Gens aren't as easy to find as the 2nd and 3rd Gens. 4x4's are even harder to find in good condition.
