New 5500

Recently got this new truck. Second cummins I've owned. First cab and chassis though.

Has anyone added the cargo camera/third brake light? Also does anyone if regular pickup running boards will fit a cab and chassis.

Mine came with the 3rd light w/ camera. Still trying to figure out if I can use the factory running boards. I know you can use AMP boards.

Ya I have seen the typical tube ones but Iím more interested in the factory retractable boards. I ordered a Laramie Chassis Cab and would think the 2500 or 3500 retractable ones should work.

The 5500 is the same cab as a 2500 so any running boards that mount at the bottom of the cab without utilizing a frame should work?

That's what I thought also. But you run into so many things that say they fit everything except cab and chassis. So really I was just looking for some reassurance from them

The only difference in a 2500 and a 5500 cab is the fenders and front bumper. Because of the flares. The only real difference is the holes drilled for the screws of the flares. When you purchase replacement mopar fenders just oder 2500 fenders and drill holes accordingly. Save money.

The cabs are the same. The only difference would be if the flare was somehow in the way... which I don't see. I think the companies probably didnt have a Cab and Chassis available to test fitment, since sales # are low on our models. So they just opt out for safety.

The chassis cab has a larger DEF tank than the pickup. It may be that retractable steps do not fit due to the this tank. I also do not have the under floor storage in the crew cab rear due to the tank.

Possible. My 5500 is a crew cab 11 foot bed. They had plenty of room for all the goodies on this land yacht. I know for sure the cab is the same as a 2500 in essentially every way because a local dealer rebuilds these trucks with 2500 cabs. I think any basic steps would work with very minor modification. The retractable steps would be best to find some detailed videos or someone with them and see where the step tucks in relation to the flares, emissions, and other frame mounted things that would vary from a 2500. The flares on a 5500 should do well to protect the boards from dirt.

OEM power steps arenít compatible with a 4500 or 5500 Diesel Cab & Chassis. Iíve seen quite a few Limited trim levels with the tube style steps.

Equipped with a CM SK Series flatbed w/B&W Turnover Ball. Purchased new April 23, 2018. Currently : 196,704 miles and 3,437 hours as of January 27th, 2020 (Average Miles Per Hour = 57.2)
