Mine will get up to 210-212 then open the first time. Then it'll float between 199-206.

I picked up a 190 thermostat at cummins southern plains a couple days ago just haven't put it in yet.

In a previous thread, it was the general consensus was if you are stock you need to leave the 200 degree stat in it. Deleted, do what you want.

My stock '12 runs about 204 or so. When towing heavy and slow, when I get to 217 the fan turns on and it pulls down to 200 quickly. So, normal is 200-217.

2012 3500 DRW Laramie, Tow Max, 3.73, B&W Companion. Usually towing a 14.9K RV 5th wheel

That's what mine does, usually hits 210, drops to 197-199, then stays right around 203.

high coolant temperature HELP

I have a 2010 6.7 with a g56 tranny. And my coolant temp is always running hot about 208 to 213 cruising empty on highway @ 70. I was recently pulling a boat hrough Utah and temperature spike to 220 to 230 at that point I started blasting the heat and trying to get the temperature down. Will not engage fan full speed unless the air conditioning is on. do you think that I have a thermostat problem? Please help.

I think i have a t-stat sticking open. My 11 that is all stock will get to around 190 then drop to around 183 running interstate @ 70mph and stay there. It throws good heat so i dont know whats going on. Could it be that the sensor is off by 10 or 15 degrees. I would think if it was stuck open the temps would run around 140 to 150

No matter stock or deleted, running 75mph pulling 6500+ up a steep grade, Dodge/Ram CUMMINS started this in the lite duty truck segment. There was no way in he double L this was going to happen with the naturally aspirated 6.2 or 6.9IDI. Just saying. Thanks for sharing, Hope its a simple answer for the OP. Definitely not motor threatening. Keep it simple.
Yes I have had a couple. Long day. Haha

I just ordered a MOTORAD 426190 (426-190) thermostat for my truck. Here lately my truck will reach as much as 212f before the thermostat opens. I am inclined to believe the thermostat is sticking because it used to open sooner. For peace of mind I'm going with a 190 because normal operating temp of 204f just seems hot.
