6.7 Cummins Ticking 2010 Dodge

Hey guys, I need some insight of possible options to look at, it's an 2010 Dodge 6.7 Cummins with almost 127k on it, this morning I noticed a slightly loud tick coming from what seemed to be the driver side.

When I drove it to work at lights it had seemed like it was not there but then again wasn't paying too much attention to it. Going to see if it does it again this evening when I get off work.

Does anyone have any advice on what I could look at?

I have never owned a Cummins that didn’t have a tick.
Other than confirming your valve lash clearances that can cause a noisier motor.

My 2016 had a tick so loud when cold i thought it had a knock, had valve adjustment done, now hardly ticks

6.7 Cummins Ticking 2010 Dodge

IIRC, first valve adjustment should be performed at ~100,000 miles, and checks should be done every 50,000ish thereafter.

If your truck is emissions stock, Iíve seen many recommendations to stick with factory spec 0.012Ē intake and 0.026Ē exhaust clearance. If youíre deleted, Iíve seen most recommendations saying go with 5.9 spec at 0.010Ē intake and 0.020Ē exhaust. Many of the stuff I recall about using 5.9 spec suggests it also quiets down valvetrain noise quite a bit.

My 2010 was doing the same thing! I heard the clicking noise coming from the drivers side front wheel. The center cap was kind of loose in the wheel so I thought maybe that was it. Jacked up the front axle and spun the wheel and you could see the u-joint had enough play in it and was sliding from end cap to end cap every 180 degrees of rotation. Ordered new u-joints for the front axles!
