2010 (stock) flat/limited acceleration after braking (not downshifting?)

Greets - have a 2010 2500 quad cab, automatic, completely stock, about 65k miles on the clock with a recently-developed (and worsening) issue that occurs after deceleration/braking. After a mild braking, once you apply throttle (even up to 100%), the truck very slowly accelerates as if it's stuck in a higher gear or didn't downshift to account for the slower speed. However, if I use the gear selector button to find a lower gear, the truck immediately responds to whatever gear I select.

So while I was first thinking it was a fuel issue (forward-sloshing, fuel-pickup issue), this occurs with just about every braking instance, and has now started to do it if I lift up the throttle to decelerate then reapply throttle... it doesn't downshift.

No codes, no obvious leaks/damage anywhere, all fluids appear normal, and the number of times I've towed on it I could count on two hands. Changed the fuel filter last week to ruleout a fuel delivery issue. Came across other threads about under performing acceleration and pulled the trigger on a PnP device to enhance throttle signal output, and maybe I'm overthinking this but my issue doesn't sound exactly like the others I'm reading that gave rise to the PnP device recommendation.

Any thoughts/direction would be appreciated

so when you get it to manually downshift, does it accelerate normally? do you use your Exhaust brake?
