are all Dodge NV273 transfer cases the same?

Found a case out of a 2012 5500. It is an NV273 with electric shift. same as mine. Will it fit in my 3500?

Seems like it should be a direct fit, but....just want to make sure.

I think the only physical difference is between the manual and auto transmission models.

I was just reading that some of the cab and chassis models have a fixed rear output flange, where the 3500 has a slip yoke. I could probably tear it apart and change the main shaft to a slip yoke style, but then I'd be in for almost as much as a rebuilt TC.

Things with the same part number SHOULD be the same. However, external parts to fit/couple/connect it could be different. Such parts should not require major surgery to change. I suggest talking to your local recycling yard about the issue - also, have the seller, in writting, warrant suitability/fitment for your truck.
