Back to 6.7?
I had a 2008 2500 4x4 megacab with the 6.7 a few years ago. Had to sell it because of a lay off at work. I had it set up the way I wanted with a Carli starter system and a Hypertech programmer. I bought it used and noticed some black smoke and didn't think it was suppose to do that with the dpf. They looked at it and replaced the dpf. Probably had a more aggressive tuner on it before I bought it. I didn't have any issues with the Hypertech.
So I'm looking at getting another diesel and sounds like the 2012 is a good year but the new def equipped trucks seem to be getting better mpg's.
I will probably keep the truck stock because I'm not into huge power and I don't like a lot of noise! I'm getting old!
I'm the typical don't need a diesel but want one. My service manager used to tell me to make some "wot" runs every once in a while and keep exhaust brake on to keep regens down.
So after the long post I'm asking the pros and cons between a 2012 and the def trucks. Are there any " safe" tuners if I don't delete?
