Trailer naming issue / ram support contact?

Hi, I'm new to the Forum as well as Ram and Cummins, buying my new 3500 in Oct 2018. After having it for about a month, I contacted the dealer about the menu not being there to name the Trailer. They had no idea about it, even though it's in their owner's manual. I contacted the online support and after 2 months with no resolution, I find out that they closed the issue without letting me know anything and NOT resolving the issue. One person on the phone blamed the publisher of the owner's manual for the mistake. That person doesn't even know that Dodge doesn't even provide a detailed Printed owner's manual. The company doesn't communicate with one another.

Has anyone had any luck with this issue or a contact number to RAM that has someone that will actually solve issues? Thanks in advance.

It’s definitely supposed to be there. Here is an 8.4 radio with the trailer name settings-
Mine is a 2017 tradesman that came with the 5.0 radio and it has it. Tell the dealer they need to add the feature to the custom settings menu with their scan tool, or you can enable it yourself using the AlfaOBD software.

The 8.4 does not seem to come activated from factory, but the 5.0s seem to. I enabled mine with alfaOBD.

Thanks for the feedback. The frustrating part is when talking to the dealer or online support and they think I'm crazy. They tell me it's supposed to be by number only. I don't understand how they don't know about this or try to help. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has contacted them about it. I've seen posts about the OBD. My concern is possible warranty issues and the 2018 also requires an additional modification to get past the security module. It's something that the customer shouldn't have to do. I wish there was a way to get in touch with a Ram company representative that cares.

The only advice I have for you is to go to the dealer and show them. You have the owners manual that explains the feature and you have a picture of the feature on an 8.4 radio. They should be able to flash it to the radio. Talking to a rep on the phone wonít get you anywhere because you canít expect the rep to have knowledge of every single feature across the entire FCA product line without getting bounced around until you get lucky enough to get a rep that has heard of the feature.
