Air Horns??.....mmm

So I知 contemplating getting air horns...gonna have on board air...so I値l have the air supply...but I知 not sure if that痴 super dumb to do or not. Would be fun to lay into an air horn when idiots cut me off towing a 38 gooseneck or 5er! But maybe it痴 super dumb and a waste of money.

Anybody regret doing air horns? Have any advantages or disadvantages? Never heard anyone tsk about them...are they super dumb and considered stupid? Or is it just people with YouTube channels that do it? Lol

I’m a driver. One thing I’ve learned is people get angry over the stupidest s***. A lot of times it’s at me for being a safe driver taking slow turns, maneuvers, etc.

No one, and I mean NO ONE is going to respond positively to an air horn.

Two things I hate

-people getting mad at me when I give them a courtesy tap from my horn. I’m like WTF did I do wrong I’m just trying to help.
-people blasting their horn at me because they’re impatient. Again I’m like WTF did I do wrong.

An air horn is a lose lose tool. If you use it to “lay into” someone for small infractions then you’re the douche who has self control problems. Or if you use it as a courtesy tap it will never be received with appreciation from the other party.

My advice if you get one just use it for emergencies only-at least then it’s justified; you’re either trying to protect yourself or those around you. I’m ok with that.

Good food for thought! Didn稚 think about people being pissed if an air horn is used.

Good rule of thumb I壇 say: emergency use only

I壇 think I壇 only use it when towing...as I知 not real maneuverable in that configuration...but in an emergency I壇 see it being used when someone pulls in front of me...and maybe that horn would get them to move out of way to avoid a collision...or they would be 電eer in headlights and freeze to see what/where the sound is coming from: and it wouldn稚 do any good anyway. I知 curious if anyone on here has them and can speak from experience if they do any good....

Just not sure if I should do it or I壇 have buyers remorse a few weeks/months/years later lol

It’s definitely effective. I use mine on my work truck often (kenworth). No experience on my Ram. when used with the right intentions it’s effective.

I didn’t pay for mine so can’t speak to buyers remorse. Glad I have it though.

I致e always been of the opinion that over 50% of the time most people don稚 even hear a horn. With headphones; music; and who knows what else is going on in most vehicles they are oblivious.

I can't remember the last time I blew the horn on my truck(s). Waste of time, if something is going wrong I am in avoidance mode not horn blowing.

Not on my truck but I have an old Croaker fog horn of off a ship it is loud and fun sometimes, I have had it out on the lake and pissed some people off unintentionally.

Best one was a group of drunks were blasting their radio being obnoxious blasted the horn about 30 seconds fixed the problem.
