Unhappy Where the heck is the up/down on six way seat?

New 2018 Laramie 2500 with what is listed as “6 way” power passenger seat. Seat only adusts forward/back and seat back adjusts tilt back/forward. That is 4 ways. The driver seat works fine all 10 ways. The owner’s manual even specifically states 6 way passenger seat adjusts up/down. Anyone have any insight into this? Thanks!

Did you try moving the switch up/down? Also once you get to the limits front and back the up/down doesn't seem to work. I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Laramie and that's how mine works.

Where I appreciate the feedback, do you think I actually didn’t try the up/down switch? Fact is there is none. The switch does not move up/down. Dealer says two other 2500 Laramies listed as having 6 way seats don’t go up/down either. The switch is stationary to only move back to front. The dealer doesn’t understand this either and has submitted an inquiry to Ram engineering.

There is an up down switch in the picture attached the left lowest switch if the pic was straight (rectangular to the right the seat forward, backward and up down switch). Now having said that the seat does NOT move up and down a whole lot maybe 1 to 1.5 inches and its more of a tilt (forward backward). The switch to the right is the one that works the back of the seat going forward and backward. This is taken out of a 2018 Ram 1500 Laramie. If you still think that yours is jacked up then go to the dealer and look at other truck's on the lot and compare it to your truck....and don't just check the same year as your truck check other years too. '17, '16, '15 etc....all of mine have been the same. I have owned a 2017 2500, a 2017 and 2018 1500's all have been the same....Just my experience.

You have me wondering about power seat functions as well. I have a ‘18 SLT that has a 10 way driver seat, and the Longhorn I have on order has 8 way power seats. I wonder what the difference is? The SLT driver seat does go up and down and I hope the Longhorn seats do as well.

I have a 2018 same thing but I believe it shouldn't as I believe the 6 movements are as follows

1) Foward

2)Backwards

3) Recline Foward

4) Recline Back

5) Back Lumbar hard

6) Back Lumbar softer

Where the drivers 10way is all the above then adds

7) Seat Bottom front ( thigh area)up tilt

8) Seat Bottom front down tilt

9) Seat Bottom Back ( butt area) up tilt

10) Seat Bottom Back down tilt.

Which enables the seat to raise and lower

Hope that makes sense.

Coming from a 1500 truck that you could move the seat much lower on both driver and passenger ( which I like to sit as low as I can in all my vehicles) took me a little bit to get used to in the 2500. At first I felt like I was in the roof and my legs were in the steering wheel and I'm not a big guy 5'10 185lbs.

Just the other day for the very rare instance I might ride as a pasenger with my wife in any vehicle. I jumped in the truck and instantly went for the seat adjustment. She laughed at me and said thats as low as it goes. It drives me crazy that we dont have the up and down adjustment on the passenger side in our trucks. Just more the reason not to ride on that side lol... I love it behind the wheel anyway.

We have a few F150's and F250's at work and you sit much lower in the F150's than you do in the F250's

You made me curious enough I just went out and looked at the seat tracks in my truck not sure why it took me this long to actually look at things lol.... The passenger seat only has one motor under the seat to move front and back. Where the driver seat has 5 motors plus the extra linkage that makes the seat tilt/raise lower. I attached some pictures. Take a look under yours and I'm sure you will see the same.
Red circle is the tilt mechanism on the driver seat the yellow circle is the same place on the passenger seat and no tilt mechanism.

This makes sense as my current SLT has 10 way seats and it does everything listed. The Longhorn I have on order is listed to have 8 way seats. I wonder which functions have been eliminated?

Looking at those pictures I wonder on the passenger side if you could get a longer bolt and space that up.im looking at a 2014 limited and my wife is composing the front of the seat is tipped down and very uncomfortable. Or could I get a track out of a wrecked 1500 and get the tilt?

The 1500s sit lower? Could I swap out the motor/track and whatnot and in effect lower my seat I wonder? I'm 6'2" and all torso and so my head is nearly on the ceiling.

One of the first things I noticed when moving from the F150 to the RAM 2500 was how hard it was to fold myself thru the door. The F150 was much easier. The main problem was that the seat was too high, and I couldn't get it lower.

It's still hard, but at least now I've gotten used to it and don't bang my head all the time.
And it's ok once I get in.
