The trailer is a texas pride trailer. So far it has taken quite a few heavy loads.

Each one of those Toyo M608Z tires has a 6395 lbs capacity, more than each corner on your dually. The chances of him having a flat are slim to none. If he did, the rig would come to a controlled stop, no fuss no muss. I am thinking a blow out on a Lear Jet would be worse

Now a new SUV with a large family, driving 80 mph.... yeah things might go south.

New here, sorry if in wrong area. Have a 2007 Dodge 3500 DRW 6sp. Manual has a GCVW of 23000 lbs. but shows a tow rating of 15750? Trying to get combination weight of 26500 lbs. in PA. To tow a 14000 lb. trailer, truck GVWR is 12500 lbs.
I see other 3500 pulling much larger trailers. Am I missing something.

Most people don't go by what the numbers state and just pull what they want. Right/wrong/smart or other.

Had to join this forum just so I could comment on this truck. Awesome truck you have there and I love the idea of it! Maybe I missed it but what made you go with the Aisin trans over the G56? Keep the pictures coming.

Two reasons. My wife wanted to have an auto because of the long throws on the shifter. And second because of the dual overdrives in the auto. 4.88's and 6th gear is the same rpm as 4.10's and 6th gear in the G56. For what I tow I wanted the higher gear ratio. 90% of the time its perfect for what I do.

Valid point, I too went to a automatic so my wife could drive it (2500hd). I didnt realize you could get the RPMS into the same range with the double overdrive, seems like a logical decision with that knowledge.

Is the towing you do for work or personal? Thats the most weight I have seen pulled by a smaller truck (relatively speaking).

Here are some updates loads on the 5500. I have a small power steering gear box leak but besides that, running great.
If you power steering is leaking at the firewall (seal on brake pedal rod)... fix it soon (mine burned in the driveway after enough leaked into the insulation behind the motor allowing engine exhaust head to cause an "oily rag syndrome" fire.
