Trans help

I've done my research and can't find a definitive answer.

The 48re is shifting funny in my 05.
1-2 is slightly harsh most of the time
2-3 usually seems good.
3-4 seems to slip or rpm flare up during the shift. Doesn't happen every time. More so when I'm a bit heavier on the throttle or pulling my 4000lb trailer.

Happens in tow/haul as well

Just installed a borg Warner governor pressure solenoid and transducer.

Adjusted rear band while I was in there, front band was done not too long ago.

Time for a rebuild?

1-2 hard shift could be front band is too tight, might want to play with that adjustment. A flare shift going into OD is bad ju-ju, that generally means the OD directs are slipping before the OD brakes engage.

Thanks for the reply. I will check the front band adjustment.

I may not be describing the 3-4 shift properly.

It's almost like the truck downshifts for a split second before up shifting. Not so much of a slip.

My knowledge on these transmissions is minimal obviously so excuse me if I'm out to lunch.

Seems like maybe it goes from 3rd lock to 3rd unlocked then locks in 4th? Explaining the rpm rise at the shift?

You don't describe whether or not your transmission is stock, or if you have any transmission or valve body mods (shift kit, maybe?).

Your 3-4 shift feeling is likely the converter unlocking for the 3-4 upshift after having locked in 3rd, then completing the shift, and then relocking the converter. It's annoying, but normal.
