Is it possible to do a 2nd gen swap with stock turbo?

I know this has probably been talked about before but it seems like i cant get a solid answer to it, I would like to do a 2nd gen swap without paying the high price. I know where to get a stock 2nd gen manifold and a downpipe to fit my stock turbo but is it possible to do it and what else would i need to complete this awesome set up?

Pretty sure you have to switch to a spring gate since you have to clock the turbo.

So you will literally have to adjust how much boost you make by tightening or loosening a spring.

going to a spring gate wouldnt be an issue for me to get rid of the electronic side of things on the turbo, i have seen they make them for compound set ups do they make them for non compound set ups?
