New year build thread!

Alright guys I’d like some input as I absolutely hate the search tool because I feel like it never works how I want it to!

Truck rarely tows, and never tows anything heavy enough to matter, weekend/ 2nd vehicle now after getting an economy car.

Cosemetics-new front and rear bumper, remove minor dents and repaint it white. Or have it painted Dodge Viper Snakeskin green with black bumpers, rims, smoked cab lights etc. always thought that would be an amazing look since I love the color combo on the viper.

Goal: 700-750
Currently on truck: Udc, Firepunk trans, fass 150, fleece cp3k, AGP 63/68/12, intake, 4” exhaust, gauges, stock injectors stock 3rd gen manifold-should probably replace soon if that makes you guys lean more towards 2nd gen mani swap.

Ideas for 700-750: ARP 425’s

Tuning: upgrade from original udc to HPtuners

Fueling: BBI stage 2, use current fleece cp3 see if it can hit 700. Exergy 10mm or fleece power flo, I’ve read time and time again both are amazing, but is the exergy 10mm capable of more fuel? Just seeing the 800 vs fleece’s 750-could just be a safe guaranteed number?

More in-depth with fueling: fleece cp3k is a pretty good cp3, has about 40k miles or so on it, never have rail issues with current mods. Going duals using that plus one other stock lbz pump I think is what people use or at least used a few years back. Would running the duals be a smarter option since the pump I have is a pretty good pump or just bite the core fund and sell my pump on the forums and go for a single stroker?

Turbo and manifold setup: The most daunting and unsure category that I just have no idea what to do because there are so many ways to get 700-750.

Option 1: New 3rd gen manifold+current turbo 63/68/12 (I don’t think that’s enough air for 700)

Option 2: New 3rd gen manifold with new turbo. Sxe S363, sxe s366 sxe s369, stealth 64, fleece cheetah.

Questions about option 2: Turbo’s are all drop in since they’re 3rd gen manifold fitting turbos, is wastegated or non wastegated the better option? More questions about the sxe series, there are so many from different dealers and brands varying all over in price. Which would be the “standard” sxe s36x series turbo to buy?

Examples: https://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/5...iABEgIURvD_BwE

https://agpturbo.com/borg-warner-agp...d-gen-cummins/

https://cppdiesel.com/stainless-dies...yABEgLTe_D_BwE

https://www.alligatorperformance.com...iABEgJXP_D_BwE

No idea what the differences are in which I should get if I go that route.

Option 3: 2nd gen manifold and maybe a s472 or if there’s something newer over the last few years that people run for the 400 series then send me options 🙂

Option 4: 2nd gen manifold and use my 63 in a compound setup. Concerns and worries about compounds- how much less reliable are they and more prone to problems with having the extra piping and having two turbos, more pressure on driveshaft and trans etc. Would this take away reliability compared to option 2 or 3? Pricing for a 2nd gen mani swap and turbo seems like it’s not that much of a gap to just getting more piping and having twins. Main concern is reliability and I’ve always wanted to see what a big single feels like let alone feel what 700+ feels like. Input from people that have had experience in this would be greatly appreciated!

Next thing would be order of importance for the build. I do want to get this done rather quickly but not all at once, I’m not a millionaire unfortunately. I do have a goal of getting all of this done by March-my birthday month. So January will be my first purchase, listed below are the options!

Priority in the build list if you guys want to rank them, here’s in my mind what would be good.

1. Injectors+studs-largest performance change since with a 63/68/12 that I currently have, I would think 650 is doable if you have the fuel which I don’t.

2/3? HPtuners- Speaking of having the fuel, how much of a difference would HPtuners be compared to the original udc dongle tuning?

2/3? Turbo/manifold upgrades

4. Stroker cp3

Feel free to comment and add any input as well as personal experience stories, I’d love to see what you guys think.

Also for tuning, is mm3 and HPtuners on the same level as far as customization and capability? I have the original garbage edge CS monitor for gauges which is tiny so if I picked up a smart by touch and used mm3 udc pro would it be just as good as HPtuners?

Hamilton valve springs+Pushrods, arp2000’s, and hptuners module ordered and on the way! BBI stage 2’s coming shortly. Still have no idea what to do for turbo setup so feel free to chime in

Ya Iíve been on this site for 10 years and Iíve noticed itís not what it used to be here. Very little feedback, a lot of drama at times, just not the same anymore.

Anyway looks like a solid build, what turbo did you decide on?

I've been out for a couple years getting back into a little now as I'm having my 07 rebuilt now. Any way sounds like your on a good track. I have compounds on my 07 and when i was driving it all the time (with some sense) I had no reliability issues. Any problem i had was self inflicted. I'd say that 63 and pump would get you to 650ish.

2012 6.7 QCLB dually EFI LIVE and deleted tow rig
2016 6.7 MCSB deleted and tuned EFI live (wifes)

Decided to just stick with the 63 for now just Incase they ran into any problems that I might need to fix. Looks good though just gotta do a crank case seal and axel seal they noticed. Still not sure between the 67 or the 369 but I’ll probably get it done in 3-4 weeks most likely.

Just waiting on my hptunes to come so I can actually take it out and see how she drives! So far on the hour and a half long journey home from the shop after driving it over there stock, it’s noticeably different driving. Engine is quieter and smoother sounding, idles softer, and I haven’t gotten on it at all, old grandma style driving since I’ve been told it’s not good to drive on a setup like that without your specific tuning but even driving like a grandma the throttle response you can tell the truck just wants to go 👍

Yeah I bought this 3rd gen in 2015 and didnít do much but just starting to get back into it myself with this truck. Just installed a thuren trackbar on mine which helped and working on my steering next. Sounds like you got a game plan together and going to be a fun build. Take some pictures and let us know how it goes!
