performance with economy?

I'm having a fit getting any economy on my 06 5.9,like 10 mpg no matter how I drive it. It was built to b a strong daily driver,it has stock bottom end, hamilton cam,5inch exhaust,12 mm pump 50% exergy injectors ,67 67 turbo, efi live,sn b intake, built trans,660 hp now my main question is,can this motor be tuned to get any better mileage with those injectors or do I have to go back to stock for that? Also I have very high egts and wondering if that is a turbo issue,I can accelerate going uphill empty truck and get egts to 1200. Can anyone help?

Probably better tuning can help and a smaller turbo. I would keep the injectors.

if its having high egts wouldn't you need more air rather than less?or less fuel

Tuning should be able to get you much better fuel mileage...assuming you aren't ripping on it all of the time.

I do it myself with HPTuners. Well worth it. My truck was a smoky mess with Smarty S-06. I started out with a tune by DOM from HPT forum and am probably on my 25th revision now. My mileage on my last tank was 16.7mpg calculated for mixed city/hwy. I was always around 12-13 with the Smarty. I've got an unknown turbo and injectors on the truck from the previous, previous owner. The guy I bought it off of thought they were 100hp injectors, but who knows what they really are.

it could be a number of things combined or one main thing causing the poor fuel mileage. alignment, wheel bearings, brakes, filters, tuning, transmission are all some things that can affect fuel mileage whether big or small.

High egt=too much fuel. Turbo doesn't help your fuel mileage. You have to pick your poison, smaller turbo will get you back to manageable fuel mileage. And keep your foot out of it. Steady pressure so turbo stays relatively spooled will also help but don't expect much.

No mention of tire size, lift or gearing?

20+ mpg all year with the 50's, mine is optimized for mpg though. 20.993 average over the last 1049 miles one tank was a "fun" tank.
