T304 stainless exhaust options

Hey all, need a new turbo-back exhaust system for my truck. We have the winters with the road crap in PA, so I am ruling out Aluminized Steel. T409 is "barely stainless" and has a tendency to surface rust, and I know that would annoy me. I'm slowly in the process of mildly restoring this truck back to something nice again. With that said, I want T304 SS.

The only option I can find is the MBRP 6126304.

I was going to get Silverline, but am told they are no longer making diesel exhaust systems which remove emissions equipment. I'm a bit disappointed in that.

The following companies do not make one in T304:
  • aFe
  • Banks
  • DiamondEye
  • Flo-Pro
  • Magnaflow
  • Silverline
Am I missing any?

Thanks!

They all will rust, stainless just takes longer. I had diamondeye and flo pro. MBRP stainless is what I run now, MBRP is the best one so far.

Actual 304 will not rust or corrode. It is one of the most corrosion resistant alloys readily available. I had an MBRP 304 system on a truck for 10 years worth of Canadian winters. It literally has thousands of salt spray hours and looks as good as the day it came of the box. It was also around twice as much money as the crappy 409 systems. I think most companies don't bother with 304 because the raw material costs are just too much and it prices the exhaust systems higher than what the average buyer could justify.

Agreed on MBRP's 304; it looks as good as the day I installed it, even with this liquid salt spray nonsense.

Sorry, I should update my sig -- early '07 so 5.9L.

I think I am going to order up that MBRP.

Is there a stainless v-band clamp part number (Vibrant?) that's recommended at the top of the downpipe?

Are there any clamps you'd change out with the MBRP kit for something else?

If you have the stock turbo go with the appropriate Cummins V-band clamp in that size, if you don't like the one included in the MBRP kit.

I ordered up the MBRP T304 kit. MBRP kit doesn't come with a v-band clamp that I am aware of. I ordered a Grand Rock VB-532 clamp with it, which is supposed to be the same clamp. May not need it, but I don't want to be stuck without one either.

MBRP has been made in China these past few years, but I believe they continue to use the more corrosion resistant 304L stainless.

I have the MBRP 304 cat back system. It came with conventional u-bolts to join the sections together. I picked up some band style stainless clamps to replace them. I feel they are much better as they donít deform the pipes and you can get them apart in the future without destroying them. Four years and mine is still looking good.

I'll have to look at what the pipe connections look like, and get some of those clamps; I'd prefer to use those as well.

Semi-related: FLO~PRO is also no longer shipping diesel exhaust systems to the US:

The forum rumor is correct. FLO~PRO as a manufacturer has made the decision to no longer sell any emissions removal or non-compliant parts in the United States. We were not cited by the EPA and are acting pursuant to market demands for more environmentally sound products."
