Mishimoto Radiator the best???

Well gents this is a sad day for me, but I feel compelled to pass on the info. It seems there are other companies out there making radiators for our beloved Dodges. I was pointed in the direction of Griffin Radiators recently and found not only do they make a direct fit replacement radiator, but it is nearly 3x as thick!!!!! No, that's not a typo, 3" inches thick! They sell these @ Summit Racing.

I like my mishimoto, but I think they're way overcharging. Also I had to put a 180 deg stat in for it to keep up. They also make direct fit electric fans as well for the Griffin radiators grrrrr.

On their page it says, Note: External Transmission Cooler Needed for Automatic.
Sounds like an aftermarket Trans cooler in a remote location is required to make it work with the Auto trans

Whoa Gator... calm down... lol 3" overall thick is what they say on the summit site. That does not mean the core is 3" thick, it means the thickest part of the radiator is 3" The core size is 2.68" thick according to their site.

Griffin Radiators for 2005 Dodge Ram

ask if the rows are offset in the core...? and if they are building them on-site at Piedmnont, SC... If yes then sounds about right on the price. I was quoted just over 1k for one that had a 3 row, offset core, custom made... that was when I was looking to get the junk btr one fixed. (still using oem with crimped end tanks that I tightened the crimps on)

This is what an offset core looks like... note how the tubes in this core are setup. Even a 2 row offset core is better than a 2 row standard core.

standard core

I want to know why they dont use the entire core for cooling...? The bottom 1/3 is stagnant coolant and not flowing at all.

there are no radiator embedded trans coolers on the rams. The trans cooler sits in front of the radiator and there is a heat exchanger mounted on the block. That radiator should be a drop in.

Probably not considering the labor in building one and the quality of the parts going into it. The BTR I had, I was told failed due to weak solder materials. Started leaking with 3~4 months after the install. It was junk.
