Help me quiet this thing down a little...

I need some advice on making my exhaust a little quieter. I installed a turbo back exhaust with flow through muffler. It only has the muffler and no cat and it is AFE. What can I add or replace to quiet this down a notch?

What size diameter exhaust did you go with? I was very happy with the 30" FTE resonator/muffler.

Working on my next broken heart.

I'm sorry I forgot to include diameter. It is 4". Did you use a AFE resonator?

My exhaust system did not include a resonator. Does a resonator reduce the overall noise of the exhaust? I hear people say it gets rid of the "drone" but I'm not sure what they are referring to as the "drone". I am looking for someone who can tell me a specific product that would help to bring the level down some. Does not have to sound stock but would like it a little quieter when going through a campground after hours.

I would look at the Donaldson mufflers. Im looking at M100466 myself, welding up as close to the downpipe as I can. I do have a cat in the downpipe still.

Nope, it was perfect. Apples and oranges but I had a 5" and used the 30" FTE with the shortest Donaldson I could find. It was perfect in my opinion and towing was VERY tolerable. Prior to that the drone was maddening. There's a strong correlation between age and the quietness we seek in a vehicle

I agree. I just hit the big 50 mark. Not looking to draw attention.

Nothing's quieter than a stock muffler. My friend just swapped out his Magnaflow muffler for a Mopar stocker. Sweet.

Not age-specific, I turn 65 in a few weeks and still love the straight pipe on my
03, even when towing.

So I'm guessing that adding a resonator will not do it and that I need to replace the muffler?
