DRW to SRW Swap

So I just purchased some 18 inch wheels from a 2016 Laramie and I’m wanting to use them to convert my dually to a srw. But when I was headed to put the rears on the floating hub is significantly bigger than the inner hole of the wheels I purchased. My question is can I remove that part of my dually axle or am I screwed and need to replace the axle all together?

The rear DRW axle is wider than the SRW axle so even if wheels did bolt on you would be faced with that issue as well. That said, SRW bearing hubs and DRW bearing hubs are the same OD so something isn't right with those wheels.

So attached are the wheels I purchased. They are from a 2016 2500. But when I went to mount them the center won’t go over the hub that sticks out from the caliper. I get that the axle is wider but I bought 1.5” spacers for the front wheels so that the track would be the same. The part that is circle in the second picture is from a 2500 but on my dually 3500 it’s about twice that long. So there’s no way for those wheels to fit on there but I don’t even know if it would fit on that 2500 axle either. Did the axles change diameter on the hub for newer vehicles?

There is no bearing hub OD difference between 3rd and 4th gen trucks that I am aware of. That said, I'm not that familiar with late 4th gen stuff. Everything I have seen is that they are all 4.75" OD hubs that accept a 4.78" ID wheel.

The DRW bearing hub is longer on all of the DRW axles compared to the SRW axles. But that should only stop the SRW center cap from fitting. The wheel should still fit over the hub. What is the ID of the wheel?

The center cap is probably 3.5 inches across. But it isn’t removable on these wheels so I think the short hub bearing would work but with the long one on the dually it isn’t going to work. I think I’ll just sell these wheels and replace the dually tires for now.

Ya my 1 ton axle flange is 4.7" You need 1 ton wheels to do that, not 3/4 ton, or what they call "super singles" The "gen' has nothing to do with it. You have a 1 ton floating axle on a 1 ton, totally diff animal than a 3/4 ton.

Yep so I just posted them for sale. Hopefully I can get what I paid for them. Gonna keep it a dually and probably just trade it in for a newer 2500.
