coil spacer questions

Alright well I've been trying to resolve some issues and have some questions. I bought a 2 inch motofab billet aluminum spacer for my 98 qclb 2500. After install, the truck sits 3.25 inches higher and I have 1/4 plus or minus of clearance between the upper castle nut and the top of the bump stop. Now I've been researching. A 3 inch spacer has shown to give almost 5 inches of lift. A 2.5 gives 3 to 3.75 (worn out springs vs new springs). And a 2 inch spacer will give 2 to 2.5 inches. I also saw where a guy put a 1.5 on his truck and got 2. I need to downsize my "2 inch" to something smaller. I'm thinking I got a shipped a 2.5 by accident since the spacer was almost 3 inches thick (take away the half inch seat the spring sits in and you got 2.5). Has anyone ran the poly whatever spacers like daystar and how have they turned out over time? Everyone says they can warp. I got aluminum ones so they wouldn't do that but I think they gave me the wrong size ones. What size spacers have you guys run to get 2 to 2.5 inches of lift and nothing more?

Could you take them out and cut it down?
