08 2wd street truck project..so far

Hey I am a very happy man today. I got my wheels/tires in today and I love em. Rides so smooth and hooks up a little better than the stockers. No rubbing what so ever.
I've got most of my trim blacked out except the rear bumper(mine has a nasty dent)which I gotta find a good used donor so I can shoot it to match the rest of the trim. I Plastic Dipped it all matte black.
Exhaust/deletes/efi live is on and running great. I picked up a set of Chassis Tech lowering shackles to drop the rear about 3" or so to match the front, they are going in next week's. A set of Bell tech shocks will mate up with it to provide a smooth ride.
2nd gen S467 kit from Stainless will come shortly after all the suspension is dialed in and tranny gets a full Sun coast rebuild courtesy of Tim Moye here in Tampa Bay.
Just an update.. let me know what ya think or advice/feedback is appreciated.. Thanks!!08 2wd street truck project..so far-img_20140308_153259_909.jpg

Looks good bud. Do you have a link to the shackles you're using?

I'm considering shackle dropping the rear of my 07 as well, and I was only aware of the Thuren and Airbagit shackles.

Thanks..the shackles are actually from airbagit.com but made by chassis tech. I think these will fit your truck as well..They level out the rear real nice from what I've seen.

I'm gonna get some more pics up real soon, I just gotta use my PC to upload them. This droid phone is not letting me upload when I hit the button.

I can't wait to get it dropped to get rid of that rake.

I did not know chassis tech made the airbagit shackles, so that's good to know. I've done a bunch of research on them before but still haven't pulled the trigger. I don't tow that often, but when I do its my dads 10k bumper pull camper, so I don't want to lower it too much. I'm thinking I will end up doing the same shackles and using the first set of holes (1.5" drop) to see how it sits.

I also have those same headlights waiting to go on my truck, and I hope mine turns out as nice as yours. I'm digging the black on silver, and the black should look similarly nice over white I hope. Might even try the black grill look, since my chrome one is bubbling/peeling anyway.

Yeah white/black trim should look pretty killer. My grille was starting to chip up by the top , so that is what motivated me to sand the chip down and shoot it black with the Plasti dip.
If you lower your truck in the rear or "reverse level" it, you can still tow no problem you just may need a different tongue on your receiver so the ball can go up to the hitch. Easy to find or just flip one of the ones you can buy at Home Depot/Lowes. Works great.

Thanks Shane..

They are Raceline Assault wheels 20x9, 5.71 backspacing, +18mm offset
Tires are Nitto NT420S in a 305/50/20 (32x12.3ish wide).

NO rub, what so ever, even at FULL lock either way or on large dips while driving. My truck is 100% stock suspension. NO leveling kit..notta

I love the new look. Like a whole different truck and handles great too. Tires hook up MUCH better than the my stock sized tires did.

real soon..I should be getting them on either this weekend or next at the latest. I intend to post a lot of pics during install and before/after shots too. It should look pretty good I'm thinking. Are you debating doing the same thing to yours?

Yessir. I was contemplating doing a spindle type lift but I've just been seeing more street type trucks like yours and I'm liking them more and more.

Shackles installed..Im pretty happy with it. They fit and installed with ZERO cutting etc..Just a little seam at the underside of the bed that has to flattened. Just use a hammer. It doesnt harm anything cosmetically, dont worry. Other than that..bolt on..

Truck rides GREAT and handles real good now. It looks better in person I think. If you are on the fence about lowering shackles for your truck ..DO IT..This is a 2.5in drop. I still can tow just like I could stock because I didnt remove my overload leaf spring. If I did, I could've got another 1in of drop. Its your call..Pics incoming..
