Fires

Has anyone else experienced a total loss from a mystery fire that started in their Ram? I'm in the middle of a lawsuit with Chrysler regarding this. They have refused to tell me what the cause was and I'm getting very frustrated.

My 2019 Ram 3500 Tradesmen at 5.5k miles blew up in front of the Ritz Carlton in Vail Colorado. Nothing was altered, nothing was adjusted, just exactly as it was from the dealership. It didn't even need its first oil change. Feel free to check out my 5☆ Google maps review sent to Westpointe Dodge in Yukon Oklahoma. It's hilarious.

according a thread above, the 68rfe equipped trucks can eject the trans dipstick and puke fluid onto the exhaust manifold. This in turn can cause a fire. Possible that this is what happened to you?

Yup, there is a recall specifically related to this.

Have nothing to add to this thread other than sorry about the truck and I built the Ritz Carlton Vail. Hope it's holding up well....the residences, not the truck.

You probably don't want to say much if you're in a lawsuit, but did they not give you a new truck and reimburse the ride home at a minimum? Or did your insurance handle it?

What transmission do/did you have? Looks like the fire started on the dipstick side for the 68rfe

Thatís ugly! And sucks big time.
Along with the dipstick tube ejecting fluid, there was a member here that had a fire staring at the grid heater wiring connection. Burning up the wire harness but he was able to extinguish the flames rather quickly.

It's a dually; most of those are Aisin. But I can't see a dipstick on the driver's side, so maybe its a 68. If this was the cause, no wonder FCA is doing a recall so quickly. Nothing left of the aluminum hood.

I'm surprised this was considered totaled
A good waxing and a few replacements and she'd be good as new!

Seriously, very sorry for your loss here. I hope it's the known dipstick issue and not something else that could be lurking in the background.

Keep us posted!
