Back to Ram

Made it back to Ram. Brought home a new 2019 Longhorn with Aisin. Truck also has the auto rear level which I am anxious to try. I totally enjoyed my 2018 GMC but once you tow with a Cummins engine your hooked or at least I am.
I can’t make the photo turn from my iPad

I was following your thread. Very nice truck. Did you get 4.10? This will be my first and noticed it runs about 2k on the tach at 75mph. My last 2 trucks were 3.73 and both ran around 1,700.

Thanks, I actually chose the 3.73. I had the 4.10 in my last Ram and it does run higher RPM than this 3.73 does. At 70, Iím right around 1600-1700. Man, I didnít realize how much I missed an automatic. Iíve pretty much had a manual in every truck Iíve owned except the King Ranch in Ď03. My very first manual was a 1988 S-10 as a freshman in 1999. Been hook on manual ever since. But now; I think Iíve settled into comfort hahaha.

Did you get the bright white or the almond color? There was a Laramie that was, I guess and ďoff whiteĒ. It looked pretty sharp with the sport package and color matched bumper but I prefer the chrome so went with the red one with the HO.

Itís called Pearl White. When you wait as long as I did the selection gets limited when choosing a gear ratio to the options on the truck. I would have preferred the 3.73 but oh well. Will never be short of tow capacity at 34,000 lbs

Well, your rig looks good. Not a fan of white unless it’s a dually. Not sure why. I know it’s much easier to care for. I was limited a little as well. But hey, we both landed some beautiful rigs and that’s a damn good thing. I hope it does well for you.

Any initial plans for upgrade etc? I mean, they come pretty much stacked anyway.

My first changes are getting the pucks installed, moving my auxillary fuel tank and my bed cover. I donít usually do a lot of mods except cosmetics. As you said, these trucks have so much going on.

Thanks for Replying and yes these trucks are great. Such a nice surprise driving around with all of that lowend torque.

I would be interested in hearing your opinion on the Duramax vs the Cummins as far as seat of the pants driveability feels to you? And once you hook a trailer to the new truck what your thoughts are? Just for conversation sake really. Nice truck and congrats.

Duramax vs Cummins in my opinion
Duramax is quicker on the start. The ride is better
Cummins pulls hills and mountains with little effort. Might be a little slower but the experience in towing with I6 vs V8. The I6 wins in my world. The exhaust break on the Ram in night and day better than the Duramax
Ram is so much further on fit and finish. These interiors blows the Denali away.
I think Duramax wins on fuel economy so far. Time will tell in towing
Duramax regens more often. Can’t tell when it happens except for fuel mileage decrease.
Rams cluster is so much better in the information you get.

I drive a lot of miles as a sales person, I notice there seems to be more hot shot guys using Ram. Must be a reason
After towing with both trucks, Cummins wins.

I know I jumped around a lot explaining but hopefully you get the jest

Thanks for taking the time to write that. Iím always curious on back to back real world comparisons. Have a few buddies that love their Dmax, one even still loves it after he broke the infamous crank in half.

There will always be fans of each Of the 3 HD trucks. My step dad was a huge Ford guy until the 6.0 debacle. I was a Chevy fan as far as gas trucks. When I purchased my first diesel it was a Ram. I think I needed to scratch that Chevy/GMC itch and I did. I am now a Ram/Cummins fan. My biggest problem prior was a rear end shake that I couldn’t solve and threw in the towel to getting a GMC. It seems Ram as corrected those issues.
I have only driven this truck a few hundred miles and so far it’s good. A little shaking in the passenger seat but I lowered the tire pressure back some. The factory set them 80 all around. It seems better now.
I will also say that this truck feels beefy in my butt. It feels stout and I am looking forward to hooking up the camper once the pucks are installed.
