Trailer Camera/TTPMS

Has anyone successfully installed a trailer camera to be used with their 19 Ram yet? I have the 12" screen if that makes any difference? I know there is a factory wiring kit you have to purchase and a flash I believe for the early model 19s. I was wondering if anyone has done so yet? I'm looking at getting a new 5thwheel and would like to know if a Furion camera would work with the factory set up? Also has anyone been able to get TTPMS setup in their 19 HDs?

I ordered a 2020 and the TTPMS still isn't available.

AFAIK, all Furion cameras are digital wireless/WiFi and only work with their monitors. Also, many of the FW that come with the furion prep are only the base mounting plate, cover, and power.

If you can get the 12-pin factory harness and go wired, the Ford camera is the same thing and readily available cheaper on ebay. There's also a few camera places that sell kits. Also a few that sell add-on video switch boxes but I can't vouch for what MY's they work with. https://axxessinterfaces.com/product...w%2F+U-connect
Also connectronix (?)

Frankly, both the Furrion and factory cameras are crap with limited quality and limited viewable area for my requirements (both backup and observation). Furrion cameras are something like 120* or 130* diagonal FOV so you won't see both your bumper if you need to hitch and the horizon if you want to use it for observation. I wouldn't be able to see past the end of my (double tow) boat if aimed to see the hitch.

This is likely where I'll be looking to get a (better) camera setup than factory. https://camera-source.com/2017-super...ailer-cam.html

They have the 150* diagonal Sony UCCD cameras with NV LED available. 150* diagonal will give you 90* vertical. They don't currently show a setup to plug straight into the factory 12-pin, but have their own plug and harness to connect to the wiring on the frame.

These guys might be another option - if only for a wiring setup - but their camera's are also crap 120*. https://navtv.com/products/NTV-KIT92...tcv-ford4.html

Nothing was available when I ordered my 2020 but a quick look on the build and price this morning I can see it can now be priced. Dealer down the road from our shop had no idea about any of it when I called them up last week to get the pin for my truck.

Is the Ram trailer camera going to have something similar to the GM with the invisible trailer mode? Does anyone know. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

No invisible mode currently but I don't see why they wouldn't be able to add that via a software update. Seems Ram is always way behind on that stuff though. I mean, they've been talking about the TTPMS for well over a year now and still not available.

Are you saying the TTPMS can be priced?

I don't see this on the ram build page.

I might have to call my dealer and see if they can add this onto my build.

I could see both on the Canadian build and price.

for the 2020? Interesting.

I'm going to call the dealer Monday and ask about it since my hasn't been built yet.

ETA: I just checked myself and it is clearly there on the 2020 Canadian site.

Well farts.

Dealer says the TTPMS is still not available. He sent me screen shots of all the order codes in DealerConnect.

So I've emailed my dealer weekly asking for status and if XG9 is available add to the order before build.

"No change, still in D1 scheduled for build, not available for order."

The last time I asked was 2-4-20. "No change, XG9 not available."

Mind you, the scheduled for build indicated a 2-5 Estimated ship date.

Then I ask for status and XG9 again on 2-11-20.

His response on 2-11, "The truck is in final inspection status." "The XG9 TTPMS was available for order starting 2-5-20."

WTF? I'm more than a little pissed they didn't get it on there for me after all my badgering. I guess I should have called him every f*kn day.

Still no answer if it can be dealer installed.

It wouldnít have mattered anyway, since you canít make changes to the order in D1 status. I would just order another one with the TTPMS (if it really is available), and not accept the current one youíre having built.

You may be right, but that's not what the dealer told me. It was D1 2 days after I ordered and he said if you change your mind on any options let me know ASAP so we can "try" to change them before build.

I'm not going to delay my delivery for this. I already have a decent enough TTPMS (Tireminder) that uses an App on my phone. It just would have been preferable to have it all built in and even if I had to pay extra and also buy the TPMS sensors and get them mounted, preferable to the screw on sensors I have now that have to be removed to adjust the air pressure.

That said, I'm not sure of the range of the factory system and since I double tow a boat that's quite a ways back, the current system with the control box in the cab and a repeater on the front half of my 5th wheel, just forward of the wheels, works well and my pressures are pretty stable once I get them dialed in for the summer towing season. Good tires (better than factory) help with the pressure stability.
