50 gallon tank

There has been quite a bit of discussion about this. I was traveling for almost 2 weeks with just a few days of down time so it took longer than usual to get answers....

The 50 gallon tank will be available soon. However - it is not available now. If you have ordered a truck thinking you're going to get it - don't get caught surprised. I was told this morning it "should" be available to order next month. It doesn't sound like it is going to be standard equipment as previously discussed....

They still haven't made info on the other changes public. Not sure what's going on or why the delay.

A member over on TDR alluded to the fact it was indeed a $295 MSRP option.

That $295 is worth it's weight in gold for me. Usually after 2.5 hours of towing with the camper I am a hair under half tank and I start looking for a gas station. I start to get concerned if one doesn't come along. Then I ask the wife to check google maps to see if the upcoming station is a truck stop that I can fit in because I am now on E with 40 mile range left. After we fight for a bit she finally locates one about 20 miles up the interstate that I can get into.

A 50 gallon tank would let me out drive her bladder. I can then tell her let me know the next truck stop and we will pull over and I believe things would go much smoother

@Indytruckchampion Is this new 50 gallon fuel tank something that can be added to a 2012 CCLB, when available and replace the stock 34 gallon tank? Would the dealer be able to flash the computer to recognize it? Or is this an item that can only be added at time of factory build? How much labor is involved in doing a switch? Thanks in advance.

This is what concerns me about ordering a 2020 to early. Might get screwed on these Un announced changes.

Going to the bathroom isn't the issue. The issue is finding a gas station along the route and having her help me out. If it's hinged on her potty break then she would be more adamant to help me out in locating a station.

It's not unheard of for Chrysler to make changes mid-model year. If you go back to 1998, they produced a 12 valve powered truck with the new interior and suicide doors in the rear for a brief period, then put the 24 valve in mid-year. So, you see 12 valve 1998s and 24 valve 1998s. For model year 2003 you can find automatic trucks with the 47re or the 48re, depending upon the build date. Why they do this I don't know, but I suspect they're just trying to use up some parts.
