Crew vs Mega

Gents,
Totaled my RCLB 16. Looking for a new truck.

My wife has stipulated it fits the family.

Anyone fit car seats into either a Crew Cab or a Mega?

Any issues with forward facing car seats in either? I’d prefer a Crew Cab 8’ bed but am also looking at mega cabs. Haven’t fit the car seats up to either.

Thanks!

front or rear facing will fit just fine in both. the wife may have a bit more of a time reaching the kids in the back seat in the mega cab, but dear sweet baby jesus is there a ton of room in a mega. if my wife packed the kids for vacation like we were just going for vacation (rather than as if she and the kids were moving there permanently), we'd be able to store everything for four of us behind the rear seats in the cab. the older kid just gets to appreciate the reclining rear seats instead, and i don't have to remove my bugout kit from the truck.

one of my favorite aspects of a mega is we can have both kids back there and it is almost completely impossible to have either one of them kicking or pushing on the seat. my wife's midsize SUV we don't make it outta the driveway before someone's foot is trying to come through the seat directly into dad's spleen. but my truck, ooh, those little bast-- i mean, darlings-- can't reach the seat to try to tapdance on my spine while we're rolling.

I had a crew and now I have a mega. Do you family a favor and get the mega. Way more room. The middle seat is also way more comfortable if an adult has to sit in the middle seat.

If you prefer the 8' bed, get the crew.

Get the Mega! It's just me n wife but I like putting stuff behind the seat with plenty of room for the family mutt. I pull a 5th wheel camper with mine, no problems with turning radius/room to haul stuff. If I need a big bed to haul long stuff, I have a long car trailer with sides. I have not used car seats but there is soo much room in the rear cab I see absolutely no problems doing so.

I have 2 small kids. I’ve had crew short and now a mega. If you can get by with the short box get the mega.

Crew vs Mega

+1 for Mega. Love mine. My oldest is 6í3Ē and still has plenty of room. Unless you regularly need the 8í bed get the Mega. If you occasionally need more than 6.5 feet you could always get a bed extender. I think the interior room of the Mega will most likely be more valuable than the extra 18 inches or so in the bed.

I am sure there are plenty of people that think a truck like this is a total waste without long bed and could never fathom less than 8 feet but I donít need it or even want it.

I’ve owned two Megas and there is no going back. I can fit both kids and both big dogs in the back seat and everyone is comfortable. Recently got a 5er and was nervous about turning radius, but it’s not a problem at all. Would be even better with a sidewinder or sliding hitch, but I didn’t want a big heavy hitch in my bed when not towing.

the megas are awesome especially for family unless you're like me with dog family lol i loved my mega cabs but the way the seat only folds down makes it real hard on the dogs so i was forced into a crew because the bottom folds up opening up the floor i don't want big dogs all over the leather

Are you going for 1500 or 2500? Arenít the Megas on 2500 frames? Heavier and harder on gas? Unless itís a diesel you replacing it with. Then mega prob be nice. I prefer the look of crew cab and the space is fine. Kids car seats fit fine. Only issue is mine goes all the way back when I shut the truck off and when itís all the way back the kid can reach. Iím 6í tall and donít need it all the way back to drive. And the seat folds up and has a platform to make a flat floor. Thatís a plus.
