Any rear susp difference 3500 short bed to long bed?

I'll be ordering a new truck when the 20s become available and I'm tempted to go with a long bed this time. I know on the 4th gen trucks the increased GVWR on the long bed models came with zero difference to the rear suspension. It was a paper deal only.

So is there any actual suspension difference between the 11800# GVWR on the short bed 3500 and the 12400# GVWR on the long bed?

Shouldn't be, the extra 14" (I think its 14) is in front of the rear suspension.

The mega cab has the same GVWR as a long bed and a much roomier interior. If you don’t need a long bed go with the mega cab.

My kids are 4 and 9. They don't need the extra room and I'd rather have the extra bed space for the turning radius penalty.

I have a long bed and have driven a shortbed. You would think there would be a turning penalty. However IMO the shortbed turning radius is just as terrible as the long bed.

I haven't seen any published documentation on the suspension differences such as spring rates, number of leafs, number of overload leafs, etc. There is an rear axle difference if you get the Aisin transmission.

That said, here are the published specs.

My 2016 3500 short-bed crew cab is enough of a pig. I couldn’t imagine a bigger (longer) truck.
One of the reasons I went RAM and not Ford this time around is because of RAM’s smaller (and 11" shorter) overall size than the F350 short-bed.

The RAM short-bed crew-cab actually fits in a standard parking spot and ‘some’ parking decks!
Life is a wonderful place when you don’t have to tow a ‘dingy’ everyplace cause your truck is too big to fit in town properly.

I haul an RV so understandably a contractor would have entirely different needs.

This chart is from 2018 or previous. The ratings are much lower than the 2019 specs.

Interesting. It's published on Ram's fleet web site and is referenced as the 2019 specifications. Ford is so much better with documentation.
