What type of ball mount do you run?

On the factory Ram hitch...is the opening 2.5"?

Looking to get one and thinking of the Reese.

Just looking to see what y'all ran and best place to buy.

Thanks

In a perfect world i wouldn’t run the reduced sleeve, but I do. In a perfect world I’d have a bw turnover or a weigh safe or a gen-y or a bulletproof hitch, but I don’t

I run a 8” drop WEIGH-SAFE, best hitch I’ve ever owned...a a beauty to look at.

Factory receiver on my truck is 2.5” on a 2018 2500

I've never been quite sold on the adjustable hitches. They're nice, but they're bulky and at least the two piece ones are easier to steal part of, or if you lock them up tight to prevent it, harder to swap than a normal one. I have a 4" drop, a 6" drop and an 8" drop hitch (all with 2.5 inch shanks) that I keep in a small toolbox between the wheel well and the tailgate. The 4" and the 6" have 2 5/16 balls fixed and the 8 has a 2" ball fixed. Obviously those can be swapped if needed, but generally, I find that any trailer that needs more than a 6" drop is going to be a smaller trailer with a 2" ball. They're easy enough to switch and I can get near enough as makes to difference to perfectly level with this setup.

I'm running a 6 inch drop forged receiver those welded ones have almost no tongue weight capability. That hitch keeps my 2 5/16ths ball, my 6 inch drop welded hitch carries the 2 inch ball for the small trailers, plus a 4 inch drop forged with no ball currently. Bought it for a trailer i no longer have, haven't touched it in years. plus the pintle for the really HD trailers. All of those are 2 inch though, so they require the slieave to fit in my Class V 2.5 inch receiver. Upgraded the factory one a while ago. I would get new ones, but i don't like the adjustable ones, they bring the tongue to close to the truck, i like having it a little further back. And i haven't found a good forged receiver in 2.5" tube, when i do, i will start replacing them. until then, it's not that big of a deal

2012 MCSB DRW 3500 Laramie Longhorn, EFI Live By ANARCHY Diesel, 4" flopro turbo back with muffler, S&B air box and filter, Edge Insight CTS2, 2" HBS level, Bilstein 5100s in all 4 corners with steering stabilizer, PacBrake Airbags, GDP Fuel Filter under the hood, Supernova V3 LED headlights and my EGR stuff ran away, lemme know if you find it

I run a forged drop hitch, I think it might be 6” or so got it at tractor supply years ago. For my equipment trailer I run a bolt together pintle. Both my setups are solid shank 2” with a reducer. In a perfect world I’d have the 2.5” shanks, but these hitches have been around way longer then my truck and there’s no reason to replace them.

Fun you ask. I just left Advance and picked up a 2.5 to 2.0 adapter.

Tired of never having quite the correct height mount for the pintle hooks, I got this OneMount.

There's a 2-ball setup for them, too, but it's rare that I pull bumper pull trailers in the first place, and rarer yet that it's with a trailer ball.

Curt makes some pretty nice cast/forged hitches in 2.5" shank. These are the ones I have:

You can get it in a 2, 4, or 6" (I think, my 6" is a reese one but it's basically the same) drop.
