Yes. I work in Information Tech. The most limited products are made and sold by Apple.
Apple takes pride in its app store. Because they control what apps are allowed, and thus control the end-users. One of the reasons Apple products tend to be more "reliable" than equal PC / Android systems is that Apple controls the software allowed to be used. This has the direct effect of limiting what is available for Apple users and makes it difficult for developers to bring new software.
Think of the old AOL. Back in the late 80's to late 90's AOL offered " internet ". Thing is, most AOL users wore never actually on the internet. The wore "stuck" in the AOL universe. Near the end, AOL started putting ad's everywhere. Users are paying for the internet, and get to see ads when connecting, ads when clicking, ads when browsing, ads and ads. In comparison, at the same time, there wore FREE ISP's that cost nothing, but put ads. And those FREE providers did not put as many ads as paid AOL service. Apple is kinda like that, they are a very limited device that controls what the users can and cannot do. And Apple DECIDES what is safe and dangerous for you. It is like AOL and Apple are being " Daddies " to the end-users.
Here, another good example. A few years ago a new law office bought new "expensive" Apple computers from BestBuy. The "Geeks" at best buy installed the apples. The customer provided 2 software applications need for Lawyers. The "Geeks" tried to install the software on the Apples, only to find it won't work. The software maker does NOT make apple software. In fact, I can't think of ANY law software written for Apple. ( It is the same for the medical industry, there is very little apple device support). The Software company explained it costs tens of thousands to just get Apple to approve the software and has absolutely no intention of ever making Apple-compatible software. The Geeks basically said they done, the Apples are set up. The law office called me. We had to dual boot all the Apples to Windows 7. So, they "Have" Apple computers, but they only ever use the Windows. This has happened a few times where a bussness will buy Apple products for whatever reason ( maybe they have one at home, maybe someone told them they are reliable, maybe the higher cost made them feel like it is a better system..). Then We need to either replace them with PC or dual boot to Windows for software. Real Business / medical software will NEVER support Apple's universe. It is just too limited, too expensive per unit, no backend support (servers, and such), very expensive payment to Apple for the " Prilivge " to be used on Apple products. Apple will remain a high-end solution for residential users.
Don't get me wrong, Apple has a place. Its good for Art nad video stuff. It's interface tends to be overly simplistic and good for new users.
Also, to clarify from above post of mine. I AM NOT saying Apple users are "Simple". I'm saying Apple thinks and wants its users to be "Simple". I know many very smart and knowledgable Apple users when it comes to "tech". They just like the interface. Devices can be very personal. If your fist device was an Apple, then you will tend to stick with it. It's hard to switch from Android to Apple and back. I personally do have Apple devices, and I use em. I'll admit I prefer the Ipad over any Android Tablet. Mainly for Porn. Porn sights have a hard time putting pop-ups and ads on Ipad. So I can spend hours on porn sites on an IpAd and it'll be fine. Try to spend 10 min on an Android, and you will end up with many pop-ups and ads all over. So, I'll agree Apple is great for viewing porn...
