I remember when the national speed limit was 55, known then as the double nickel.
Speed doesn't kill, the stop does.

You sound as though you think everybody out there has something to loose. What are you going to do, take away their birthday? You will receive no more than the limits of his liability policy. Especially if you attempt to pursue the family (who did nothing wrong,) just for spite. But, it’s your money. Throw it at the first ambulance chaser who tells you what you want to hear.

Reading your comment made me wonder...what if you and yours were hit at the posted speed limit? Does that somehow make the responsible party less culpable?

You can sue a ham sandwich, but what’s the damage or loss? It varies.

I’m not condoning speeding nor would I advocate someone breaking the law. If it ever happened to me and mine, I would pursue legal action and let the courts/juries decide the loss and damages.

All that being said, I’ve run 100mph+ many times...My PS F350 is governed at 96mph, I bounce off the limiter almost weekly.

That is actually not true. That would be the most the ins. Is liable for. The victim could still pursue a personal liability lawsuit.

The proverbial “everything you own”!

If a victim wins a lawsuit and is awarded damages, they can perfect the judgement and force garnishments, foreclosure, liens...all kinds of fun things!

Maybe not, if it becomes known that the "victim" has publicly announced the willingness and intent to sue, more or less on principle.

Maybe if we start telling people that the brain is an app, they will start using it?

Yeah, I don't know what's happened now. People drive 85mph and blow by me. Police don't even police the roads nowadays.
