So My truck you still have to actually put the fob in the ignition and turn it to fire the truck up since It’s a manual and I don’t have a push button start.
Anyone notice that you can start the truck without the fob actually in the ignition since it’s RFID? As long as you have the key real close to the ignition you can start your truck with your finger... at least mine does.
Just realized this a few days ago and really like it since you can leave the truck running, lock the doors and run into a minimart or starting it early in the morning or whatever without having your spare with you.

Anyone else utilize this?
What year of truck does it work on besides my 2018?

Yes you can. And you can cycle it all the way to start but it won’t start unless the key is like right next to your finger. If you have the key right next to the ignition put your finger in it or whatever and turn it, it’ll start. The. You have the key in your hand and not locked into the ignition.

Never tried it on mine, but, mine is an auto with remote start so it might be that way.

When the push button start first came out you could start the truck with the key fob with the push button out. Or you could insert the push button and start the truck with the fob in the vehicle. It was like this on my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Its very possible you could insert one of these and start the vehicle with the key fob in the vehicle. Amazon has the button but you would have to keep the fob close for the signal to be received. Google it they do make aftermarket kits.

Why?

It's okay to truck your finger, but not finger your truck?

I don’t think that will work if you just insert it into the slot since you still have to manually turn the ignition.
I posted a link to a video in the first post

Son of a b. This guy is right. It actually works. Put finger in my ignition with my key nearby, like touching the surface of the outside ignition, turned it and it worked.
