After Tune, Can you Run the Exhaust open from Turbo?

I am getting a programmer with tune today, but exhaust isn't coming until tomorrow or Thursday. Can I run the truck tuned, with the exhaust open after the turbo? And then when the exhaust arrives, install it? Or should I just wait for the exhaust before tuning?

Fair enough. Curious why you would wait?

I figured it would be painfully loud. Not what I'm looking for, I live in a nice area and I like my neighbors... I'd hate to be "that guy" who funks it up with exhaust noise. I just wanted the truck to be functional for a day while I installed the Programmer and EGR this morning since they already arrived and then IDEALLY... just bolt the exhaust on when it comes tomorrow.

Let's see. EGT's up to 1400 degrees, exiting in the engine bay area close to the firewall and bellhousing. What could go wrong?

Youre breaking federal emissions standards by deleting your truck, do you really want to draw any LEO attention by having a truck that is about as loud as it can possibly be? Even driving it like a grandma you’re going to make a lot of commotion running just a downpipe. Wait for the exhaust to come in and do it in one go.

I have a 5in TBE and it’s loud in the passenger seat, I think running just a downpipe would warrant an “ear protection required” sign near the truck.

Noise aside, I think you would get a lot of exhaust smell in the cab too.

It would not be a good idea. Now if you want to just run a down pipe, it will still be stupid loud but at least the heat and soot will be under the cab not in the engine bay.
