What is wrong with staying stock?

So I feel like everyone throws their tires/wheels outside the fender wells and lifts their trucks up (at least level it).

What is wrong with just staying stock? For instance, I just picked this truck up.....who would keep it stock?

Nothing wrong with staying stock. There are tons of people who do nothing but maintenance and drive it. I'm one of them. Every time I think I would like to do something like a lift, delete or whatever I find something better to do with my finite amount of money (i.e. something the wife will b$&ch less about like something for the house or kids).

Nothing wrong with being stock. Especially since these trucks are tall as it is, and barely fits under my 5th wheel. Also going bigger adds more stress to the system.

I am well beyond that stage of life. My truck is a plain jane tradesman and I like it that way. As all ready said, too many other ways to spend my money. The truck stock set me back way too far to spend alot on things that really don't do you much when it comes to trade in value.

I'm a degenerate, so I don't think I've ever kept a vehicle 100% stock. The wife gave up long ago trying to reign me in.

There's nothing wrong with keeping your truck stock. Different flavors for different people.

for some a truck is just that a work vehicle to accomplish a task. Others it is a toy, some a status symbol of look at me.
90% of these trucks are used as grocery getters, daily commuters, never have been in the dirt or hauled a 2x4.
America is great because we can all do what we want with our funds, within the law of course.

Mine is an SLT so I could get a couple options I wanted then delete others back to a Tradesman level. Truck works most days hauling trailers. Will be deleing shortly not because I want too but because emissions systems are acting up.

Idle hands...

Nothing wrong with stock. If you notice my build thread Iím a lunatic. Built it up only to return to stock. As mentioned already, itís nice living in a free country where we can do just that.

Truck has never towed anything, has hauled cargo in the bed twice, no one sits in the back seats, has been in 4x4 mode less than a dozen times..

I just didnít want a 1500, cabin room is small. Needed something comfortable.

Playing with these trucks is fun and too damn easy to be left alone. Gears, suspension, delete, electronics, etc. everything is easy to work on which makes it hard to be left alone.

Not to mention having this forum is better than most repair manuals

Another user on here has a truck similar to yours. Hereís what he did to his. This is not my truck.

So again, nothing wrong with staying stock. Until you see someone with your exact truck on here modified..

I will join the conversation. I think a LOT of these fads actually make a truck look ridiculous!
Leveling kit...........yeah........make your truck look like an old female dog when she squats to pee! LOL One can go down to old Mexico and see Jose or Pedro driving along with 5000 pounds in the back of his half ton and get the same effect!!!!
Black wheels.........yup ....... really individual and original there, not another one on the road has Ďem!!!!!!
And the list goes on!
But........as stated, their money, their truck, they can do what they want.

Nothing wrong with stock at all. Most trucks on the road are stock.

For me I just like to tinker, always have. I'm in my mid 50's and still haven't grown out of it. It's nothing to do with looking cool, or a status but I just can't leave anything alone. I pretty much modify everything Lol. Now I'm not going to the extreme like some but I do play around with it. Same with my wife's Jeep. I enjoy it, guess you could call it a hobby for me.

Id keep it stock
Cheap leveling kits, mismatched drop brackets and pitman arms all ride like crap. Throw in some cheap tires and its even worse.

If you ever level or left, spend the money and get a good setup that has good reviews.

I don’t mind doing things that make my truck better.

Changed headlights to HIDs. - Better night time driving experience.
Changed fog lights to LED - Better low level light broadcast for fog.
Added LED light bar. - Better On and Off road driving experience.
Added LED light cubes - Directed light to ditches for better early warning of dumb 4 legged animals.
Added Amp Power Steps. - Easier to get in and out of the truck for me and wife.
BD TSB - Changed the throttle position so more reactive at beginning of exceleration.
Added manual feed air bags. - Better 5th wheel towing experience.
Added Tonneau cover. - Saves my stuff from getting wet and stolen.

Aside from that, she’s mechanically stock. I don’t feel I need to do anything more....yet!
