2016 hydroboost hiss/noise?

So my truck has developed a constant hiss noise that can be heard sitting at idle below the driver dash. I can manipulate the sound by moving the brake pedal as well as momentarily moving the steering wheel. I have done a decent amount of looking around and have narrowed down my 1st guess to the hydroboost system.

- Please note that the 2016 does NOT have flexible lines from the steering pump that can have the little plastic liner tube removed. Mine are already solid lines.
- Steering fluid looks clean in reservoir.
- brake fluid looks clean in reservoir.
- brake pedal seems harder to push than i remember.
- Truck has 65,000 miles on it.
- don't see any leaking fluid, which leads me to believe its an internal leak or issue.

I just haven't heard of any other failures this early in mileage? but i guess weirder things have happened. Are these units rebuildable? or is it just as easy/cost efficient to do a new swap.

Any other thoughts before i replace the unit?

Mine has started whining/whistling this summer. I'm waiting till fall to bring it to the dealer and get a couple recalls done at the same time.

Yep! My 2016 started the hissing noise at 40K miles. Took to dealer and they told me to bring it back when it got worse. I could move my steering wheel ever so slightly and make the sound change etc. My service adviser said to bring it back in a week and complain about your safety and it would be repaired quickly.. LOL SO thats what I did! Repaired in about 4 hours and works great ever since.

Completely replaced the entire unit including lines. It was covered under warranty but service adviser said it was about a 2500.00 job. I was just out of factory warranty but had the extended warranty coverage. Paid for itself first trip.

Iíve spoke with 3 service departments, 2 say that itís not covered under my Powertrain warranty, the other says they think it could be covered, but need to get it in to see what type of failure it really is in order to request coverage from fiat for it. And that if itís not covered Iíll only be response for the $120 diagnostic fee............soooooo sounds like they just want the diagnostic fee, and then want to try and bait me for having to pay them to do it since itís already there? Maybe Iím too pessimistic.....

I think Iíll either replace myself, or have my go to mechanic do it and submit for reimbursement, and might or might not get paid out for it?

Iím having a hard time finding a rebuild kit. But Iím seeing full replacements ranging from $300-$600. My shop quotes me $165 labor for the replacement.

Mine has started doing this too. I don’t do dealerships and will fix myself. Is it the PS pump?

Mine was NOT the pump. My pump was NOT replaced. I talked to the mechanic and I guess there is a valve in one of the lines ( I am not an expert here) and I guess mine was not working properly and causing the hiss. WHen I moved the steering wheel slightly and I guess thats how i manipulated the noise. Once it was replaced all good!
